“Korrespondent” magazine announces the winners of the annual

“The Best Ukrainian Book” competition

 

 

This year winners are:

 

Documentaries  Category

1st place: Oksana Zabuzhko. Notre Dame D'Ukraine: Óêðà¿íêà â êîíôë³êò³ ì³ôîëîã³é

2nd place: Juriy Andruhovuch. Òàºìíèöÿ

3rd place: Andriy Kokotjuha. Þð³é Ëóöåíêî ïîëüîâèé êîìàíäèð

 

Fiction Category

1st place: Yuriy Pokal’chuk. Êàìà Ñóòðà

2nd place: Sofiya Andruhovych. Ñüîìãà

Annual project of the “Korrespondent” magazine “The Best Ukrainian Book” is the nationwide Ukrainian competition of literary works, published in Ukraine and written by Ukrainian authors. This year books published in 2007 took part in the competition.

During the first stage readers of Korrespondent voted for the best books in two categories: Fiction (novels, stories, collection of stories) and Documentaries (memoirs, biographies, non-fiction). During the second stage Korrespondent editorial selected TOP-10 and subsequently TOP-5 list in each category from readers’ votes.  From this list a competent jury selected the winners. The jury consists of well known Ukrainian literary critics and experts, highlighting literary life in Ukraine, and also famous Ukrainians, who are keen on reading and get interested in books’ novelties.

The first “The best Ukrainian book” competition took place in 2006.

The winners were:

Documentaries Category: Okasana Zabyzhko (1st place), Danylo Yanevskiy (2nd place), sergey Kuzin, Konstantin Stogniy ( shared 3rd place);

Fiction Category :Taras Prohas’ko (1st place), Sergey Zhadan (2nd place), L’ubko Deresh (3rd place).

 

The winners in 2007 were:

Documentaries Category: Yaroslav Grucak (1st place), Yuriy Andruhovych (2nd place), Taras Prohas’ko (3rd place).

Fiction Category: Larysa Denysenko (1st place), Kuz’ma Skrjabin (2nd place), Maryna and Sergey Djachenko (3rd place).

 

The winners of “The Best Ukrainian Book ” competition received 5,000UAH for the 1st place,3,200 UAH for the 2nd place and 1.500 for the 3rd place.
